The Occult Side of Nazi Archaeology: Demon Skulls & UAP Secrets
Nov 22, 2024What if the mysteries of ancient civilizations and the occult weren't just stories, but key to how these societies shaped their understanding of life, perhaps even influencing some of the darkest moments in modern history?
Archaeology, for most the most part, is a field grounded in science, where discoveries about the past are made through careful excavation and analysis. However, what often goes unspoken are the layers of mysticism and occult knowledge tied to those very discoveries. Ancient civilizations didn't separate the spiritual from the material as we tend to today. To them, gods, demons, and otherworldly forces were part of their reality, intricately linked to their understanding of life, death, and the cosmos. And when we examine modern archaeology through this lens, we can see how it intersects not just with the material but with the metaphysical. This convergence between the occult and archaeology is especially evident in controversial cases like Nazi occult practices, where archaeology was manipulated to support dark ideologies.
Over the years, my work on subjects such as the Anunnaki and the occult has garnered attention—both positive and negative. Critics often accuse me of blending "pseudoscience" with history, but what they fail to understand is that much of ancient history itself is inseparable from the occult. From the tablets of ancient Sumer to the Nazi expeditions driven by occult interests, the connection between archaeology and spiritual or supernatural beliefs is undeniable. For me, defending these connections is about more than responding to criticism. It’s about presenting a fuller, more nuanced picture of our past—one that acknowledges that mystical and spiritual beliefs were central to the way many cultures made sense of the world around them.
The Occult Foundations of Ancient Civilizations
In ancient civilizations, the occult wasn’t seen as “fringe”—it was mainstream. Take the Sumerians, for instance, where much of the knowledge about the Anunnaki comes from. The Anunnaki were a pantheon of deities, but they were not just gods to be worshiped; they were understood as beings deeply connected to the creation of humanity and the maintenance of the cosmos. Many of their rituals and beliefs were steeped in what we today would call occultism. They were delivered through sacred, often secret, rites. As such, a pries class emerged, creating a more complex system of social stratification than what had existed before. This wasn’t an alternative belief system. It was at the core of how they structured their societies and how they understood their place in the universe.
It’s easy for critics to label any connection between the Anunnaki and the occult as speculative, but to dismiss the spiritual and esoteric components of ancient cultures is to ignore a significant part of history. The fact that these deities were said to communicate through dreams, omens, and signs is in itself a form of occultism, an early form of understanding reality that bridges the material with the supernatural. These practices weren’t about superstition; they were about attempting to connect with the divine forces believed to govern all aspects of life.
The Anunnaki: More Than Myth
One question I’ve encountered repeatedly is: why connect the Anunnaki to occultism? For me, the answer is simple. The Anunnaki are more than a story of ancient gods—whether you believe they were ancient aliens or spiritual entities, their influence has transcended time. Modern occult practices often draw from ancient beliefs, seeking to tap into the same cosmic powers that civilizations like the Sumerians worshiped. In some occult traditions, the Anunnaki are viewed as beings that brought hidden knowledge to humanity, a theme echoed in many cultures where gods or angels act as intermediaries between divine knowledge and human ignorance.
In this sense, the Anunnaki can be viewed as agents of esoteric wisdom, beings who represent the mysteries of the universe. Their connection to the heavens, as described in Mesopotamian texts, suggests they were not just rulers on Earth but cosmic figures who could traverse the realms between gods and men. These themes resonate deeply within the framework of modern occultism, which often seeks to bridge the gap between the physical and the metaphysical, between human understanding and divine knowledge. What we are truly studying is a phenomenon. To understand these phenomena, we must go beyond the material, recognizing that there is an underlying thread that ties together human experiences across time and space. This thread is often captured in the concept of the monomyth, a universal narrative structure that reveals the ultimate truths about our existence, as Joseph Campbell described in The Hero with a Thousand Faces.
At the heart of this inquiry is phenomenology, the philosophical study of structures of experience and consciousness. Derived from the Greek phainomenon (meaning 'that which appears') phenomenology emphasizes that reality is not just what exists in the physical world but also what is perceived and experienced in consciousness. The lived experience, or the way phenomena are perceived and interpreted by individuals, is as essential to understanding reality as scientific investigation.
In this light, the examination of the occult, metaphysical experiences, and spiritual beliefs can be viewed not as fringe but as critical to our understanding of reality. They are manifestations of how human consciousness interacts with the unknown and the unseen, offering valuable insights into both the physical and non-physical realms of existence. This dual approach, science to study the material world, and phenomenology to explore the inner world of experience, allows us to weave a fuller, richer understanding of the mysteries that shape our existence.
By approaching the Anunnaki, occult practices, and even archaeological discoveries through this lens, we begin to see that the pursuit of hidden knowledge is not merely about finding artifacts or proving historical facts. It’s about tapping into a deeper current of human experience, one that spans millennia and touches on the universal truths that define our reality. Whether we are studying ancient deities, mythical beings, or esoteric rituals, we are engaging with a phenomenon that has appeared and reappeared throughout time; a phenomenon that continues to shape how we understand our place in the cosmos.
Critics may scoff at this connection, but it’s important to realize that the occult isn’t just a relic of the past, it’s a living tradition. From astrology to alchemy, modern occult practices often echo ancient beliefs about celestial beings and hidden knowledge. By understanding the Anunnaki through the lens of the occult, we gain insight not just into their role in ancient Mesopotamian society but also into how these ancient ideas continue to shape modern spiritual practices. It’s not a leap to connect them to occultism but rather a natural extension of how these ideas have evolved over millennia.
Nazi Occultism: Archaeology as a Quest for Power
Perhaps the most unsettling example of how archaeology and occultism intersect is found in the actions of the Nazi regime. Heinrich Himmler, one of the most notorious figures of the Third Reich, spearheaded the Ahnenerbe—an SS division dedicated to exploring the mystical and esoteric roots of Aryan superiority. These missions were far from standard archaeological expeditions. They were fueled by occult beliefs, and the Nazis sought to unearth evidence of a master race, often twisting archaeological findings to support their grotesque ideologies.

The Ahnenerbe embarked on expeditions worldwide, searching for relics, sacred sites, and occult knowledge that would validate their racial theories. They ventured to Tibet, Iceland, and even parts of Eastern Europe, all with the aim of uncovering evidence that Aryans were the true heirs to an ancient, mystical legacy. This wasn’t just about science—it was about using archaeology as a tool to legitimize their warped vision of history.

The Nazi Demon Skull
One of the more bizarre cases related to Nazi occult archaeology is the discovery of the so-called Nazi demon skulls. In 2014, two skulls were found in a cave on Mount Bolshoi Tjach in Russia. These skulls, bizarre in appearance, were discovered alongside a Nazi briefcase bearing the SS Ahnenerbe insignia and a map dated to 1941. Given the remote location and the occult interests of the Nazis, many have speculated that this site may have been used for occult rituals. Some have even suggested that the Nazis were attempting to summon demonic entities.
I’ve examined photos of these skulls. The peculiar features, particularly the large eye sockets and horn-like protrusions, certainly give them a demonic appearance. While some researchers suggest these could be natural deformations caused by environmental factors, the possibility that the Nazis saw these skulls as possessing supernatural significance cannot be ruled out. Unfortunately, no DNA analysis has been performed on the skulls, leaving their true origins a mystery. For those intrigued by this story, I explore this case in much greater detail in my book Evil Archaeology, where I examine the intersections between archaeology, the supernatural, and the dark side of human history. You can find the book here.
The Nazis’ fixation on the occult didn’t just shape their archaeological pursuits, it shaped their entire worldview. They weren’t just searching for historical artifacts; they were looking for relics imbued with spiritual power, objects they believed could grant them control over supernatural forces. This case, like so many others, highlights the disturbing way in which the occult and archaeology can be manipulated for political and ideological ends.
In responding to criticism about the integration of the occult into my archaeological research, I often ask: why wouldn’t we study it? To remove the spiritual and esoteric components from ancient history is to sanitize it, stripping it of the very beliefs and practices that were central to many ancient societies. Whether it’s the Anunnaki in Mesopotamia or the occult-driven expeditions of the Nazi regime, these elements give us a deeper understanding of how people in the past viewed their world and interacted with forces they deemed to be divine or supernatural.
Moreover, understanding the occult is essential for understanding the motivations behind some of history’s most significant events and figures. The Nazis, for example, weren’t just engaged in warfare and genocide; they were also deeply invested in a metaphysical quest for power. This quest influenced their policies, their military strategies, and even their choice of archaeological sites. To study Nazi archaeology without acknowledging their occult motivations would be to miss the full picture.
The same can be said of ancient civilizations. The Anunnaki, the Apkallu, and the various deities and spirits of ancient Mesopotamian cultures were not just mythological constructs. They were seen as real forces that influenced everything from the cosmos to the crops. When we examine their role in ancient society, it becomes clear that these occult elements were not incidental, they were integral.
Why We Can’t Ignore the Occult in Archaeology
The world of archaeology is vast and multifaceted, and to ignore its occult dimensions is to deny ourselves a full understanding of the past. Whether it's the mystical beliefs of ancient civilizations or the disturbing occultism of the Nazi regime, these spiritual elements shape our understanding of history in profound ways. The criticisms I’ve faced only strengthen my resolve to continue exploring these connections because they offer a deeper, richer understanding of how ancient and modern societies are linked by their pursuit of hidden knowledge.
